Where to Find a Ball Python for Sale

The places to purchase a ball python for sale:

Online Marketplaces

Online marketplaces like MorphMarket are excellent for exploring breeders that offer ball pythons.

You can read descriptions of each seller and see ratings left by previous buyers.

Directly From Breeders Contact breeders and purchase animals through their websites.
Reptile Shows and Expos

Reptile shows are great ways to connect with breeders from all over the country.

They give you the advantage of seeing an animal in person before purchasing it, and you can usually find good deals.

Purchasing reptiles from a pet store or places like Craigslist may be tempting, but we advise against this.

Pet shops often source their animals from unethical breeding mills with unsavory conditions.

Their employees don’t always have proper husbandry information. They then pass this misinformation on to the customer.

While they may have attractive snakes, shops and individuals don’t typically have the health and genetic history of the animal.

When buying a ball python from a reputable breeder, you’ll have the peace of mind that you’re making a sound, ethical investment.

How to Choose a Ball Python Breeder

There are countless professional ball python breeders other than the ones we’ve listed here.

Just because they’re not on our list doesn’t mean they aren’t quality breeders.

If you don’t feel comfortable purchasing your new pet online, try contacting local breeders near you.

Bigger doesn’t always mean better. Many reptile enthusiasts prefer smaller breeders.

When you’re searching for a reliable ball python breeder, there are several indicators to look for:

Shipping

A reputable breeder won’t ship reptiles when the weather is below or above a certain temperature for the safety of the animal.

They should package reptiles safely and securely with heat or cold packs, depending on the temperature.

Overnight shipments are the least stressful way of sending ball pythons.

Experience

Breeders that have been in the field longer have learned from their mistakes and are more equipped to run successful breeding programs.

That’s not to say newer breeders can’t produce high-quality animals. It’s up to you to decide what you’re comfortable with.

Good Reviews

Do your research and ask around reptile forums to see what kind of experiences others have had with the breeder you’re interested in.

Healthy Animals

They should only be sending out snakes that are disease-free with good genes.

Breeders should never sell baby ball pythons before they’re established feeders.

Customer Service

Good customer service goes a long way. A dedicated breeder is willing and available to answer your questions.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Many breeders will put in the time to chat with you, to assure their animals are going to a good home.

Captive Bred Ball Pythons

Ball pythons, scientific name Python regius, are native to West Africa.

They’re one of the most popular pet snakes in the world.

Because of their demand, ball pythons are often collected from the wild and exported to other countries.

Wild-caught ball pythons are more likely to have parasites and diseases, traumatic experiences, and poor temperaments.

Removing animals from the wild can massively impact wild populations and environmental conditions.

You should only purchase ball pythons bred in captivity.

We hope you enjoyed our list of the best ball python breeders in the US and feel confident in selecting the perfect breeder for you!
