Hello and welcome to Reptile.Guide!
Iโm Stacey, the owner of this website and lifelong reptile lover, caretaker, and educator.
You see, growing up my mom had horrible allergies that kept us from being able to own any type of pets with fur. So, while my friends were playing with their dogs, hamsters, and catsโฆ I was stuck at home alone, longing for a friend!
Luckily for me, my mother understood the importance of giving me responsibilities and teaching me to care for someone other than myself and therefore decided to allow me to own reptiles such as snakes and lizards as pets!
And as I quickly discoveredโฆ reptiles were every bit as fun, cuddly, and entertaining as that of my friendsโ more โnormalโ pets.
In fact, I become so obsessed with reptiles that I have owned pretty much any kind you can imagine (okay, maybe not quite, but trust meโฆIโve had a lot!).
Growing up, my infatuation with reptiles only grew stronger and stronger. My freshmen year at college, I actually had a leopard gecko setup UNDER my bedโฆunbeknownst to my roommate and resident advisor!
It was also during college that I started volunteering at local animal shelters like the Humane Society in my free time.
You see, while my floormates and classmates were out getting wasted and partyingโฆ I was volunteering to pick up dog poop, play with cats, and care for dozens for reptiles.
You see, it was volunteering at shelters where I first discovered my passion for educating others on reptiles. During this time, I was fortunate enough to learn how to care for a variety of reptiles, including turtles, tortoises, and even frogs. Fast forward many years later, and I decided to start this website to help educate those all over the world!
One of the reasons educating people on reptiles is so near and dear to my heart is because I have found there to be a TON of misinformation online about proper reptile care.
Many reptiles can be quite fragile and the smallest mistakes, especially in their habitat, can lead to serious consequences. Because of this, it is very important to me to put the RIGHT information out there so new owners and even experienced owners can have a resource to turn to, to ensure theyโre giving their pet the best care possible.
It is my goal to create a total and complete resource for owners so please feel free to browse the website, share pins, and bookmark articles youโd like to return to later.
Reptiles donโt have to be difficult to care forโฆ you just need to be willing to seek out the right advice and not fall victim to assumptions or misinformation of pet stores. So, with all of this being said, I hope you come to love this website and enjoy the content!
All the best,
Stacey
